  • BIG CHANGES at HOME SWEET HOMEBREW!!!.
It may be cliche, but…"What a long strange trip it’s been."

Home Sweet Homebrew has been helping you brew since 1986, and we've seen a lot of changes along the way!
    • Who remembers the tiny square room across the street at 2007?
    • Who remembers brewing because you couldn’t get ‘good beer’ on a regular basis in Philly?
    • How about the first tastes of Belgian beer coming into the Book and the Cook’s Michael Jackson events at the Penn Museum?
    • Or Tom Peters challenging Don Feinberg of Vanberg & DeWulf, the importers, to bring in Belgian kegs?
    • What about the Homebrew Rendezvous with Charlie Papazian at the Philopatrian Literary Institute on Walnut Street or the Michael Jackson dinner at the Ben Franklin Ballroom?
    • Or how about Sam and Mariah Draper Calagione coming to us for those initial Dogfish Head ingredients?

All of that was so 20th century, wasn’t it?

Fast forward to the 21st century... Unique and interesting beers have taken over the landscape and are almost ubiquitous wherever you drink beer now! We’ve seen so many of our former homebrewers go over to the pro side, it’s hard to keep track of how many.

Changing times, challenging real estate demographics, changing retail landscape, and yes, the desire to ‘spend more time with the family’ all came into play when we made the difficult decision to give up our storefront on Sansom St. by Labor Day weekend.

However, although we'll be physically off the street, we won't be far away! You ring, we bring!

Yes, you can still contact us for your brews, and we’ll deliver to you, either directly or at a meet up for a beer at several of Philly’s fave beer bars. (General contact will be info@homesweethomebrew.com More info on this service in the coming days!

Our next steps are moving to a so-far undisclosed location (some very intriguing news - more to be revealed soon!) and taking some time off to enjoy what other people have been doing for a while…more than one day off a week!

Please stay in touch; sign up for newsletter updates and FB blasts. Share with us what all these years have meant to you. We are so very proud of all the connections we have made with you, and those that you've made with each other. That’s the legacy that we’ve hoped to leave with you, and one that homebrewing has fostered throughout history.

We'll be sending out more info about our future, and how we can still help with your brewing supplies.

    CHEERS TO ALL!

Nancy Rigberg, Co-owner of Home Sweet Homebrew. More women are brewing beer now than a few years ago, but the majority of brewers are men.

Women, come on in to Home Sweet Homebrew and help the trend towards more female brewers!

"Craft beer and brewing what you want are real expressions of being able to assert your independence. If you’re drinking it, you will at some point say you can brew it. We can do anything. Women can brew it."
    -- Nancy Rigberg
